Introduction

Welcome to the next edition of Connect, the ezine for the School’s partners and colleagues.

For those of you I have not been able to meet yet, I took on the role of Associate Dean for Postgraduate studies in February this year. Formerly Head of the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Department, I was delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to work with you all towards a sustainable future for CPD work across the School.

Although this is only the third issue of Connect, I am hoping that over the next few issues we will make this a much more interactive forum. Aside from being a source of reference for CPD information, a major aim of Connect is to cover current issues in healthcare, to share views and debate with you all. If you would like to make a comment on any of our articles, please use the ‘feedback’ button. If you have ideas for an issue theme, or wish to share your experience of our CPD then send it in.

In this issue, the work of Marie Hill on Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) with NHS Tower Hamlets is presented as an example of how CPD is successful in enabling an expert on immunisation to lead and engage with parents who were undecided about immunising with the MMR vaccine.

I am also glad to have the opportunity to give you an insight into the work of the Mental Health Department. We have a team that is absolutely committed to the issues of mental health wellbeing, providing undergraduate and postgraduate activity, localised project work and national and international conferences based on ongoing research.

If there is anything you would like us to cover in future issues, something you think could improve or a view you’d like to share with industry colleagues, please do contact us. I welcome your feedback and would like to hear what you have to say to ensure this publication remains useful to you in your area of work.
